Hi Friends

Sorry for the absence, it has been a rough week to say the least.  If you follow along on Facebook you know my grandmother has been in the hospital, it is heartbreaking for me.  The reality of having a dad and grandfather that have passed in the past 5 years and watching my grandmother slowly slip away is tough. I have also watched my mother go from independent and unbreakable to frail and declining in the past year.  When my grandmother is released from the hospital to a dementia unit I need to think of moving my mother to an assisted living complex.  I try my hardest to stay strong but my goodness it is hard.  I am so thankful for having such a wonderful husband who will do anything for me but most importantly for my family.  This picture was taken the day before she went to the hospital, I am so glad we were able to get her out of bed and put a smile on her face.

I will be back tomorrow with last week’s highlights and I am excited to share some projects with you.

I am so sorry for all that you are going through & all that you have lost in the last few years. I can truly relate on soo many levels. My sister & mother left us all soon soon and the I feel for your heartbreak as I know how it can be to care for someone who is sick & ill. What a blessing it is for you to have so much support within your own family, esp from your husband:). Wishing you a better week ahead. Warmly,

  4. Kristin- I understand how you feel having experienced loss a few months ago. Equally tough sometimes is taking care of others and staying strong, but I believe that’s our call to action. Take care and hope and pray that your mom gets settled and that your grandmother stays comfortable and is taken care of in her new home.

  5. Kristin, it’s so hard when life cycles around to where we are the caretakers for our caretakers – our parents and grandparents. We are dealing with the same issues and it’s not easy – I’m so sorry your grandmother has been sick and am keeping you and your family in my prayers!!! lots of love to you my friend!! xxooLisa

  9. Kristin,
My heart goes out to you. It’s hard losing loved one, and also hard watching them decline. My father passed away 5 years ago. My mother in law is 96, and we had to move her into a nursing home 2 years ago due to altzheimers. She is doing great. Much better then when she was on her own.
Take care if yourself, as you are taking care of everyone else. You sound like you have a great husband to lean on.

  10. Sorry you’re going through this. My husband’s father passed away almost two years ago, my mother-in-law too is getting frail and confused, and my own father, well, has months to live. We’re at that age now, I’m afraid. It is not easy to watch our once strong, seemingly invincible parents decline.

  11. oh I have been praying since I saw your post. I have been on a little vacation and am just getting back into the swing of things…wanted you to know I am here:) take care of yourself..accept help from others too.
I will continue to pray for all of you….xoxo

  13. Kristin, I’m so sorry to hear that your grandmother and mother are not doing well. I lost a grandmother to Alzheimer’s, which was really heartbreaking… especially for my mom. It’s difficult to make the switch from daughter/granddaughter to caretaker. I know it’s the circle of life, but it sure stinks sometimes! Praying for you and your family.

  14. oh my dear….I am so sorry. Been off the link party circuit a bit ( or cutting down on them due to busyness ) and just saw this. My heartfelt prayers and thoughts for you and your family. I grew up living next door to my grandparents..they were everything to me. Their decline / eventual deaths were the hardest thing I’d ever gone through. It’s very hard…I know. There are no words so just thoughts and prayers with you : )
