$20 Media Console

My fabulous hubby brought home a $20 media console he found on Craigslist.  It was the perfect size for the loft, just needed a little TLC.
Mixed 3 Annie Sloan Colors to achieve a beautiful grey.
French Linen
Coco
Graphite
Almost forgot to take a before shot,
I was so excited to get started.

I gave it two coats of paint using a brush,
 no sanding, no priming.

I didn’t bother to paint the inside grey, I figured the black would blend all the boys obnoxious gaming equipment better.

I followed it up with the clear and dark wax with a little distressing to give it a aged look.

Look what  arrived at my front door, so pretty!

Still trying to figure out how to distract from the flatscreen.

  3. Bravo to You and Hubby! You make a great team. Great Deal Finder and Quality Re-finisher. Love the choices you made with it!

  4. It looks fantastic! I love the color! The only way I have found to take a way from the flat screen is we painted the wall behind it a darker color and it blends into the wall.

  5. Hey pretty lady!

You hubby is awesome! I'm still trying to train mine to bring home goodies like this.
It looks FANTASTIC! It had good bones and you brought it back to life with that gorgeous paint. Love it.

  6. So great looking! What a deal! Annie Sloan MUST be an impatient decorator like the rest of us and it DROVE her to make this paint….what a God send it is!!

  7. I like the mix of color. I've been slowing coming around to using ASCP and have grown to like it. I just painted my guest room furniture. Whenever I walk by, I smile, because it looks so good.

  8. Wow, great piece for $20.00, Kristin! Hubby did good! : ) Love the gray you mixed up. I haven't tried mixing colors yet, but may this week to lighten one up. I've seen people do a gallery wall around the TV when it is hanging on the wall. It kind of doesn't stand out as much. Although, some people might find it distracting when they are watching television.

  9. Beautiful! I love the color and you can't beat $20! I need to get my hubby into finding great pieces. 😉
    xoxo

  10. What a great find Kristin and you transformed it beautifully! French Linen and Coco are my two fav colors.

  11. Looks great Kristen!!! I love how perfect it is for media equipment~gotta love the chalk paint for the fastest makeovers evah!!

  12. I just painted a cherry TV stand in AS Paris grey-picked it up at Goodwill for $19.95. These are the best finds. For your TV, I have seen them lately with a frame around them–kinda looks like a chalkboard. Your room is looking very beautiful and functional. Enjoy your weekend. Kimberly

  13. That's Awesome! It's just perfect. I Love finding stuff like that and fixing it up, it is waaaay too fun. That's what keeps me watching curbsides, and stuffing things in my car. Also, your office, shelves redo, was amazing. WOW!

  14. Annie Sloans chalk paint really does wonders to an old worn out piece of furniture. Love how your piece turned out.
As for keeping the flat screen out of sight, i have seen on some HGTV shows where they have franed out a mirror or print on a hinge. When it's closed it looks like a mirror or print that is framed. When it's open, you are able to view the flatscreen.

  15. Still waiting on the ASCP I ordered on line to arrive. Every time I see a makeover like your's my hand starts to move in a painting motion.

  16. Kristin, I love the color that you achieved! Great idea of leaving the inside black to disguise the gaming stuff! Dying to get my hands on some Annie Sloan and refinish tables for my bedroom.

  17. What a fantastic deal your hubby got on the cabinet! Your redo is beautiful. What a great addition to your room!

  18. A perfect place to hide everything away. I love the transformation One more thing I love. I love that your husband picked it up. My husband ( I love him so much) would never attempt attempt to do that, giggle. xo

  19. Looks fabulous – that is a fantastic grey. I always vote gallery walls to hide TVs, seems to work almost every time! 🙂

  20. Hi Kristen,
The console looks great. I have 3 boys and it is always difficult to hide all the gaming stuff. Hiding tv's can be a problem I have seen some photos where a picture frame is placed on the front of the tv. It kind of softens the outside edge and makes it look nicer. I think there are some pictures on pinterest.

  21. Wow, you should send an after picture to the previous owners, I bet you they'd be flabbergasted and regretful that they sold it! It's perfect!

  22. This is a wonderful makeover!
You are so talented, I wish I had your gifts of transformation.

    Beautiful as always!
    XOXO,
    Anne

  23. Love how your cabinet turned out! I don't blame you for not painting the inside, it was a MAJOR pain! Loving how you were able to mix the colors too, I need to try that 🙂

  24. Thanks so much for linking up your beautiful console makeover to my Room Evolution party Kristin! And a HUGE thank you for all of your help and support in getting it off the ground. You're such a great bloggy friend. 🙂

  25. I am in complete awe of the way this room turned out. It is unbelievable what paint can do. Your loft is so very fresh and comfortable. LOVE it.
