Upcycled Bundt Pan Pumpkin Craft Fall DIY
This bundt cake pumpkin craft was a fun and unique project and will fit perfectly with your fall decor. Using spray paint, magnolia leaves, a wooden stem, and moss, I was able to create the cutest little pumpkin. I’m sharing all the details on today’s monthly thrift store post, make sure to see what my friends created this month!
It felt a little strange working on fall projects in the middle of Summer while it was hot outside, but we bloggers always have to be a little ahead of schedule. I had to finish this project early last week since we were headed to college orientation up North. We decided to prolong it and take a few days off of work, it was so beautiful. Things are starting to get real around here with both our oldest leaving next month, yikes!
Most thrift stores usually have a kitchen section where you can find baking supplies, I found the pan on my second stop. Garage sales are also a great place to find these cute pans.
Here is my before, $3 and the clerk had me pick an envelope out of the jar with a $50% off coupon, $1.50, not too shabby!

Simple Materials Needed:
Bundt Pan
Metallic Gold Spray Paint
Cleaner/degreaser (optional)
Spray Paint Sealer
Tree stem/branch
Real or faux leaves
Gorilla Glue or Glue Gun and hot glue
Moss
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Prep Your Bundt Pan
Clean the bundt pan thoroughly to remove any grease or residue. Chances are it might have some grease built up if you purchased it from a Thrift Store. You might need to use a degreaser.
Paint the Pan
For your next step, spray paint the pan in the color of your choice. Orange paint would be the most traditional, however, I went with a soft gold. I would use a paint in primer in 1 or prime it first followed by your paint.
You might need to apply 2 coats of paint for full coverage and allow the first coat to dry completely before moving on to your second coat. Make sure you are in a well-ventilated area or working outside.
Add Details
Once the base coat is dry, you can use a smaller brush to add details or shading. You can create a textured effect by lightly dabbing different shades of paint or adding a bit of glitter for sparkle. I decided to keep it just one color, it’s completely up to you.
Create the Pumpkin’s Stem
For the pumpkin stem, I cut the stem of one of our trees. I eyed a few branches to see which one would be thick enough but not as big as the bundt cake hole. To secure it in place, I used a little plastic shot glass that fits perfectly on the bottom of the pan. Next, I added the gorilla glue to the bottom of the stem and placed it in the shot glass.
Add Finishing Touches
Next, add your floral moss and leaves. I picked some magnolia leaves and added glue at the base of each leaf and secured it to the pumpkin. I then applied some moss until I felt it was balanced.
Tips
Experiment with Paint Techniques: Try using sponges or textured brushes to make it look like a real pumpkin
Involve the Kids: This project is great for all ages. Let kids paint and decorate their own mini bundt pan pumpkins, jello molds work great for this project. Let them get creative using bright orange spray paints or make a mini white pumpkin.
Other uses for the stem: An old rusty spring would look super cute as a pumpkin stem
Embellish the pumpkin: You can use white gingham ribbon tied around the stem and if you don’t have real leaves, cut out small leaf shapes from leftover fabric.

I love this upcycle! I tend to pass over the pots and pans with thrifting. No longer! I need a bundt pan in my life for this project. That spray paint is fabulous. I’ve used it in terra cotta. The gold is nice.
Thanks Christy! I love the soft color of this gold as well, I already have a idea of reusing this pan 🙂
