DIY Painted Basket Makoever

I love finding baskets at thrift stores, the possibilites are endless!  For this unique sized basket I gave it a makeover using paint and wax, it really doesn’t get any easier then that!  This basket is pretty long and the perfect solution for storing all of our  BBQ tools!  Check out the easy tutorial below and make sure to see what my talented friends worked on this month for our thrift store challenge.

Here is the before:

SUPPLIES:

(Affiliate links for your convenience)

Angle Paintbrush, 1-Inch
White paint (I used what we already had; Revere pewter by Benjamin Moore)
Rag
Americana Decor Creme Wax, Deep Brown

 DIRECTIONS

First I gave it a good cleaning using a a damp soapy cloth to give it a good wipe down, inside and out.

Grab a dry paint brush and dip the bottom part of the bristles into the paint. Using the brush, get into all the crevices of the basket, inside and out. You don’t need to have every inch of the basket covered.

After you have finished, allow the first coat to dry, it shouldn’t take long.  If you feel it needs more coverage give it a second coat, otherwise just leave it alone . (I only applied 1 layer)

Next I  sealed the basket using the American Decor Creme Wax.  I simply dipped a rag into the wax and wiped the wax onto the basket and then wiped it off, creating that aged affect.

I love how you can bring old  baskets  right up to date to fit in with your home decor with just a little bit of paint!

I think this size basket would work great for sotring magazines as well.

Make sure to check back again next Wednesday, we are all making planters out of a unique thrift store find, until then, check out todays  makeovers!
