Decorating with Faux Olive Trees

Artificial plants have come a long way and olive trees are having a big comeback in the interior design world as a favorite home décor plant in recent years. I love Olive trees for their subtle look and delicate, silvery leaves. They complement so many home décor styles, think farmhouse, modern and contemporary, you can’t go wrong. Today, I’m sharing some of my best faux olive trees!

Here is a quick link to purchase

Fake olive trees have surpassed the faux fiddle leaf fig tree and I’m not sad about it. I still have a love for fiddle trees, however, olive trees have always held a special place in my heart so I’m extremely happy they are all the rage now,

The Olive tree is one of the most beloved, sacred trees symbolizing peace, wisdom, and tranquility.
Traditionally, the Olive tree is a symbol of peace and friendship, this association began in ancient Greece, as early as the fifth century. It is also a symbol of reconciliation, cleansing, and healing, I’m sure we all know the saying “Extend an olive branch” which is used when someone wants to end a confrontation because who has time for hate these days, I sure don’t.

When I was in elementary school my parents were building a house from the ground up, we would visit every weekend to see the progress, it was such an exciting time in our lives. Once the cement was poured for our driveway they left a huge open circle for a gigantic olive tree with 6 branches, each branch symbolized each member of our family. The weekend we moved in my parents had a big open house and a priest blessed our home which of course started at the olive tree. He spoke about the meaning of the olive tree and it has stuck with me my whole life. We now have an olive tree growing on the side of our home, it’s there for many reasons but most importantly to bring peace, protection, and tranquility into our home, I would say it’s working!

My Favorite Faux Olive Tree At a Reasonable Price With high-quality Materials

At almost 7 feet tall and strikingly realistic, this is the one for you! Let’s be honest, looking for the perfect faux tree can be difficult, there are so many to choose from, and that’s why I love it when websites have a place where real people can leave great reviews and a picture of how they styled it! Nearly Natural has exactly that! Once I looked over each review and all the beautiful pictures I knew the olive tree with an impressive height of 82 inches was the perfect tree for a corner in our downstairs great room with tall ceilings. I needed something that was narrow and tall, that would look good in tight spaces. I love that the branches can be spread out to create more width and they can easily be adjusted. It’s sophisticated yet rustic and the shape and color of the faux olives look so realistic. I love that there are black olives as well as green and brown., I get asked all the time how I keep it alive. No one believes it is fake, it looks and feels real, not kidding!

Unlike real trees, I love that I don’t have to worry about my 3 pups ingesting anything harmful, our vet bills are high enough around here these days.

How To Style An Olive Tree

The biggest mistake I see people make is to take the tree out of the box put it in a corner and be done with it. NOPE! Think of it as a Christmas tree, you have to put some love into it, fluffing and arranging each and every branch. Olive trees are not straight, each branch seems to grow in different directions, our’s outside is being staked up right now as it has a mind of its own. Make some of your olive branches straight and others curl, it’s ok if they are touching. Have the branches going in opposite directions, don’t make it look too perfect.

Find the Right Container

Large faux plants tend to come in really tiny planters or in a small plastic pot.

Whatever you do, place your faux olive tree into some type of larger container, whether it be a basket, a cement planter, or a vintage planter, you need to hide that small planter or everyone will know it’s a fake plant.
I found my basket at Hobby Lobby.

Sometimes I will elevate the tree just a little bit more by placing a box inside my container and placing the tree onto the box. Then I use leftover packing material to stabilize the tree, bubble wrap is perfect for this, Once I’m about 2-3 inches from the top of the planter I like to add a touch of a real, natural element. The best way to do this is by adding soil, pebble rocks, or moss, each will give your artificial plant an added hint of nature.

Cleaning

To ensure your new artificial olive tree always looks fresh, dust once a month using a feather duster. A few times a year, I mix half-vinegar, and half-water solution in a spray bottle and spray down my faux plants with the solution. I Use a clean damp cloth to wipe away the solution and dust.

Where to Place Your Artificial Trees

We all know real plants need natural light to survive, so to pass off your beautiful faux olive trees as real is to place them somewhere in your indoor space where light flows through to show off their natural beauty. They make great additions to your office space, dining room, living room, or even your master bedroom. An easy way to pass off your tall artificial olive tree as real is by putting them in areas of your home where you would naturally put a real tree.  Your natural faux olive tree is a great option in small spaces, a home office, or a large room, you really can’t go wrong!
