DIY Farmhouse Christmas Tree Basket
Today, I’m showing you how to make an easy DIY Farmhouse Christmas Tree Basket Stand. I can’t believe we are almost halfway through November, this is actually the first thing I have done as far as decorating goes. I made my way up into the attic and pulled a few things so I wouldn’t be sharing a bare tree with you. I’m hoping to start decorating a little more over the weekend so It doesn’t all sneak up on me at once.
It’s Thrift Store Makeover day which means you get to see more fantastic makeovers at the bottom of today’s post.
I was actually on the hunt for some large bells to makeover but had zero luck, however, while browsing our Good Will store I found this cute basket for $1.50. Remember Christy’s basket makeover from Our Southern Home I featured a while back, well I knew exactly what I was going to do with it! (thank you for the inspiration Christy)

Supplies
Deco Art Americana Chalky Finish Paint, Lace
Ribbon of your choice
Hot Glue and Glue Gun
Directions:
Before painting, make sure to clean the basket really well using a damp cloth.
Dip your 1″ brush into the chalk paint and give the whole basket a quick coat of paint. Dry brush the paint onto the basket, don’t worry about covering the whole basket. This is what gives it a farmhouse rustic feel
Pick out a ribbon of your choice and wrap it around the whole basket securing it with hot glue.
I had originally used a sharpie for a red line but it just didn’t look right so I decided to add ribbon instead and it looked much better.
Seriously, that is it, so simple and so easy!

What a great idea for upcycling a basket! It makes a festive tree holder!
Thank you Pam!
Kristin,
I’m surprised at how large that basket is. It’s beautiful with the Christmas tree in it. I bought a smaller tree last year on clearance and I will be looking for a box/stand for it. The one I made several years ago will probably be too large. I never thought of using a basket! Thanks for a great idea.

Thanks so much Gail!
So cute!!! Perfect Christmas tree stand!
This looks amazing! I, too, just recently started digging through Christmas decor in the attic. I can’t believe it’s already time to start pulling things out! I need a small Christmas tree for a corner of my kitchen, and this would make such a great base! Pinned.
Thanks so much, Amy! I have seen trees like this at Michael’s for about $30.
