So this is life
Well, it has begun. The chaotic, crazy, unorganized, crap everywhere, overwhelming, walking in circles, stressed out, don’t know what to do kitchen demo is here.
On the 17th it will be exactly one year since we found the mold. So this will be life for the next month. Every room is filled with stuff, even the backyard.
Ray started taking the upper cabinets, molding and lights down yesterday.
I feel completely blessed to have girlfriends that put aside their day to come and help. I didn’t ask, they just showed up and for that I am so grateful.
Can I tell you how excited I was when all of the molding came down in big pieces still intact. My heart was physically hurting watching all of Ray’s hard work being torn apart and seeing that it wasn’t a complete loss puts the biggest smile on my face.
This is the garage filled to the rim with the new cabinets. I took a peak inside one of the boxes and they are beautiful!
We still have so much more work to do before Monday. Our middle son is the all stars for soccer all this weekend so when we have a break we come home do a little more work and then back to the fields.
Monday-demo
Tuesday/Wednesday-mold removal
Air out for a week and then the new kitchen will go in
I’ll try to keep you posted throughout the week!
So excited this process is finally starting for you! I know it’s been a long road but it will all be done soon. Can’t wait to see & hear all about it.
Deep breath. Good friends. Huge job. Will be checking back to see how things are going.
Joy
You poor dear…that is a lot!! I am assuming you have to vacate when the mold removal is taking place? I cannot even begin to imagine. However, I know the new kitchen will be beautiful. Hang in there!!
I know it is going to be beautiful when you’re all finished! I know you have a full plate right now. Kitchen renovations can be stressful but hang in there! It will go fast and be so beautiful. Sounds like you have wonderful friends. Hope you enjoy the weekend Kristin! xo
One step closer to being done, right? It’s going to be amazing, and it’s going to be worth it!!
I originally missed the mold story, and just wanted to say I’m so very sorry. My DIY projects become like my children or pets. I love them dearly, they take on a personality, and if I had to undo all that hard work, my heart would break.
Hopefully this ‘new’ kitchen will take on a life of it’s own and you will grow to love it as much as your did your old one!
Good luck! We have done that before and it was tough living in an unorganized space but you will be so happy! I am jealous.
I’ll be doing that next spring! So I feel your pain, but it’ll worth it in the end!
Hang in there……
oh kristen- i know this process sucks and may be a combination of happiness and sadness but just think how you will feel in a couple of weeks. good luck with all.
Can’t wait to see everything finished. I smiled when I read the part about your girlfriends showing up to help. I miss all of my girlfriends that I left in Cali.
What great friends! Mold gone, beautiful new cabinets, it will feel almost like a new house (if only for a little while). This process is temporary and when it’s over you will be so happy it will make all this craziness worth it. You have had a terrible thing happen (the mold), but you have gotten through it and will have a beautiful result!!! Congratulations !!!
Memooooories…..ah yes, I know it well. And I don’t want to do it again anytime soon, that’s for darn sure. Months of living in that chaos was stressful. Thankfully, we started demo at the beginning of summer, so we we were able to grill and eat outside. Away from the mess. And the kids were home for summer break, so breakfasts and lunches weren’t on a tight schedule. Still, I feel your pain. BUT, when that light at the end of the tunnel is visible, it makes it alllll worth it. It’s gonna be sooooo pretty. 🙂
I feel the your pain. Our master bathroom was gutted last week & so we traipse across the house to another bathroom, which has really little hot water, if any. I am all out of sorts too. I am just happy you caught the mold before serious health was compromised for your family. Your kitchen will be even more beautiful than before. God Speed!
It is going to be stressful, but a NEW KITCHEN!! How exciting!! Mold is such a yucky thing. You are so lucky to have such nice friends to help too. Hope it all goes smooth!
