Painted Dollar Store Pumpkins

Well, I might still be in my flip flops but it didn’t stop me from making over these dollar store pumpkins with a little paint! Yesterday was officially this first day of fall and it was 90 degree’s, it didn’t stop me from decorating for fall, no it didn’t.

Step by step tutorial on how to paint dollar store pumpkins and make them look real

I am so excited to be a part of a Fall Tour this week with a group of fabulous bloggers. You are going to find all sorts of inspiration for mantels, tablescapes, wreaths and crafts. (I have all the links at the end of the post)

First, grab those plastic looking orange pumpkins and give it a quick coat of chalky paint.

Once dried, simply dip an artist brush in water and black craft paint. Paint black lines in the creases, if the lines are too dark just wipe off with a damp towel and start again. You can’t go wrong! Last, I sprayed an indoor-outdoor clear sealant on the pumpkins once dried to protect them.

I had to laugh when I read your first paragraph … because I’m wearing flip flops today. It’s upper 70’s here in Chicagoland. Cute little pumpkins! I need to remember to shop the dollar store!

Such a great idea. It is crazy how expensive pumpkins can get. This is an easy way to make them affordable AND cute!
