Accent Table Makeover Using Chalk Paint
I ran across this adorable Accent Table at our local thrift store and I had to scoop it up! It reminded me of a table my grandparents had and for 3 dollars I couldn’t let it go. Plus I have been wanting to test out the color Legacy in the American Decor color pallet before painting some larger pieces.
Here is the before, isn’t it cute, It’s the perfect little table for anywhere in the house.
TIP for distressing furniture, use a sanding sponge!
So, If you have a tired, old table of any size that needs a little love, this post is for you! I have been using chalk paint for many years now and I absolutely love the ease of using this paint. The versatility is my all time favorite, no striping or sanding to prep!
Supplies
Americana Chalky Finish Paint, Legacy
Americana Decor Creme Wax,Deep Brown
Small Craft Brush
Sanding block
Rag
Directions
Before painting, make sure to clean the table really well using a damp cloth.
Apply the first coat of paint using a angled brush and a small craft brush for the more intricate areas. I was going to apply a second coat but decided I really liked the way it turned out after the paint dried.
Just a little bit of the brown wood was showing through in some areas. At that point, I decided this was going to be a distressed piece. ( I wasn’t sure going into it)
After everything was dry, I smoothed everything out using a sanding sponge. I distressed it using the sanding sponge in places it would naturally wear over time. To do this simply apply a little more pressure while sanding until part of the paint wears off.
The last step was to protect the paint job. I applied the Americana Decor Creme Wax in dark brown with a rag and then buffed the table using a clean rag. This definitely darkened the piece and I loved the outcome, it reminded me of a deep jewel color. 
If you would like the piece to remain a little lighter you can apply clear wax over the paint.
