A Thanksgiving Tablescape & Burlap Napkin Holders
Can you believe we are in the month of November already! The holidays are just around the corner and Thanksgiving will be here before we know it. Thanksgiving for me is a time to reflect on all of our blessings and this year my heart is especially full!
We will be hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year so I pulled out and recycled items from years past. The only thing purchased was the cute little white pumpkins, how could I resist. I also created burlap napkin rings for my tablescape using scraps of leftover fabrics. (tutorial below)
I kept it very simple with scattered owls, pumpkins; both real and fake, burlap wrapped wine bottles filled with wheat and a bowl of fresh fruit, which needs refilling about every three days.
Making the burlap napkins holders were easy peasy, I just used various scraps of material I had from leftover projects.
Materials needed
Paper Towel roll
Burlap
Ribbon
Scraps of material
Embelishments like buttons
Scissors
Hot Glue
I used the paper towel rolls as my base, so all the rings would be the same size.
Simply cut your burlap into 13 inch lengths. The width is up to you but I kept mine at 2 inches.
You will notice I tore just a couple strings off the top side of the burlap to make it fringe just a little. For the bottom I simply folded the burlap under and hot glued it to give it a clean look. I think the fringe gives it a little more character.
Wrap the burlap around the paper towel holder twice so the holder will look more full. Fold the end under and give it a dab of hot glue. (I am not gluing it to the paper towel holder, just using it as my base)
Next hot glue strips of your favorite material followed by a strip of ribbon and embellish with buttons. You can get super creative using whatever material would look best with the theme of your tablescape.
