I am super excited to share Navy Bean Lane’s blog with you today. Kristin (love the name) is a mom of FOUR and has a love for all things beautiful and cheap and is super talented, take a look!
Hey Everyone! I am so so excited to be guest hosting today … how lucky am I?! I have been reading and admiring all things Kristin and My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia for quite some time and am in constant awe of all the amazingness she has for us all the time!
Just a little background on me, my name is also Kristin (coincidence? I think not!) and I have had a love of crafting and creating for as long as I can remember.
I started my little blog, Navy Bean Lane about a year ago where I talk about all things DIY, but mostly about all of the fun painting projects that my husband and I do together. We do a lot of furniture and cabinets … and we are absolutely addicted to that feeling you get when you finish up a project, step back and just gleam. It’s the best!
Mmm, K. Now that that little intro is done, I want to talk a little about the power of paint, mainly the power of painting your cabinets! I love the fact that paint can take a room from drab to fab, and the best part being that it doesn’t have to break the bank. It’s one of my favorite ways to make a big impact on a budget!
Paint can easily bring new life to something tired or old. I love the transformation of this bathroom after we simply painted the cabinets black.
The counter tops and flooring stayed the same, but by painting the cabinets and framing the mirror this bathroom feels much much more inviting!
This kitchen was functioning like a champ, but in deep need of a little paint. By lightening up the cabinets it brightened up the entire room and now has a much more calm and airy feel to it.
Here is another example of how painting your cabinets can completely change the feel of a room from my in-laws. This kitchen went from builder grade and boring to an updated family haven.
I really love how the grey tones down the oranges in the countertop and floors. The overall look is so much more calm than before and it’s all because of paint!
For those that don’t want to take on the huge task of painting their cabinets or even an entire room, you can also achieve the same big impact with small things. Paint a side table, grouping of frames, or even just an old favorite decoration in a bold accent color and you will be amazed at the life it can bring to an otherwise boring room. And the best thing is that if you don’t like it, you can pick a new color and start again!
Springtime is my favorite time to start a new paint project. It’s not to hot and not to cold … hmmm, I’m thinking it’s about time to paint something!
Thanks so much for letting me chat your ears off today!
