Kitchen update

~Hi Friends~

Hope you had the most wonderful holiday spent with loved ones!  I will slowly be getting back into blogging over the next week,  I have thoroughly enjoyed a little time off!

With all the hustle and bustle of the holidays I realized I never shared with you that our kitchen cabinets have been ordered! (over a month ago, oops)  The demo, mold removal and remediation services starts on January 13th.  Hopefully the following week we can start the rebuilding process, fingers crossed.

(If you missed what happened to our kitchen you can read about it here)

Keeping it pretty simple, we went with a square solid recessed panel on on all the doors and drawers.   The color we picked is called canvas which is the color of the island pictured below.  We decided not to have the cabinets glazed.  Although I still love the look I wanted things to look a little different from our previous kitchen.

Tradition with a soft, elegant twist.

These are the cabinets we ordered which are also pictured above.

We opted for a double stacked molding to give us the height we love so much.

Although I would have loved double stacked cabinets like you see below, it was way out of our budget.  Instead we decided to install them on the cabinets above the refrigerator which will make it look like it’s own piece of furniture.

The bold pairing of white cabinet doors and drawer fronts with black crown molding creates striking visual interest in this luxurious kitchen.

Canvas on Maple creates a clean and luxurious look. The island facilitates easy seating in a kitchen where the cook likes company.

The fun part for me was designing a kitchen that was actually functional.  I am so excited to have a organized kitchen, this is something that has been lacking for many years.  We opted for 1 pull out spice drawer by the stove and two lazy Susan’s in the bottom corners.

Almost all of the cabinets on the bottom are going to be large drawers! This part is dreamy for me! No more getting on my hands and knees trying to find what’s hidden in the back.

There were a few areas that we had to install cabinets but we made sure they had pull out trays for big pots and pans.

I’m pretty excited about the double stacked  drawer divider for utensils and a knife cutting center.

As for the counter top, we are going for something a little creamy with hints of browns and grays that will go well with our flooring.

I have to say I am actually getting excited!  I’m dreading the process as I don’t know if we will have to move out but I am ready for a fresh new start in 2014!

Thanks for stopping in today and being so supportive in this journey! Have a wonderful weekend!
