Delicious Mud Pie Recipe & Taking a Time Out

Today’s post is a little bit off-topic. I’m taking an opportunity to slow things down, even for just a moment while I sit and enjoy a slice of mud pie in my own time out.  It’s funny, people looking in from the outside might think I am just a busy mom of three, but truth is, I wear many hats.  First and most important, mom and wife, which in itself is about 20 jobs: Chef, Housecleaner, Nurse, Teacher, Chauffeur, Dishwasher, Psychologist, you get my drift, right?  In addition, I work for an attorney from home, take care of all my mom’s personal finances and work on this little blog which could be full-time if I so desired and actually had the time.  I’ll admit, it is hard not to have the guilty mom complex when I have a little downtime. However, we all just need a moment to ourselves; we spend so much time taking care of other people that we sometimes forget about focusing on ourselves. Tea and cookies

Growing up we rarely got dessert and if we did my Mom would give us each 1 cookie, you heard that right, just one.  It was pure torture as a kid not to be able to have 2 or 3 but we knew better than to ask. Now that the roles are reversed, I understand where my mom was coming from and the number of sugary foods our boys are allowed to eat is very limited. However, there is one thing I don’t deprive them of and that is dessert, every night, yup, my boys get dessert every night and I don’t feel bad about it.  They look forward to it and it gives us time to chat on the nights when we can’t have a family dinner. I don’t give myself dessert every night because let’s face it, I don’t process sugar in my 40’s like I did in my 30’s, so if I’m going to eat sugar it has to be worth it.   Mint Milano cookies with tea

Pepperidge Farm® Milano® Cookies are definitely worth it and are one of my favorite treats! They are the perfect indulgence and simply delicious with a cup of tea in the morning after I get the kids off to school.  I can put myself in a little time out, curl up with a good magazine, a cookie, and tea and my day will be off to a great start!  They are also amazing on top of this mud pie I have been making since I was 16 and the kids go crazy for them.  And if you are wondering, yes, I have been known to eat mud pie for breakfast, just don’t tell my kids!   Delicious Mud Pie Recipe How about you, what is your favorite indulgence?
